James Aven and Tim Watson are taking part in The Yukon River Quest in June 2011 to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity.
The YRQ is the longest annual canoe and kayak race in the world attracting up to 100 teams and around 250 participants each year. Except for two mandatory rest stops totalling 10 hours, paddlers race non-stop over 460 miles (740km) of unspoiled wilderness on the historic route of the Klondike gold seekers from Whitehorse to Dawson City in the Yukon territory of north west Canada. It is a unique event and widely recognised as one of the toughest adventure ultra-marathon events in the world.
You can follow our progress in preparing for this great event by reading our ‘blog’ and support our challenge by visiting our ‘how to donate’ and ‘sponsor’ pages.

HI James, way to go buddy, wish you the very best. Chris, Jen, Evan and William Clark, Boston USA.
Remember your cushion!
Good luck James.
Shouldn’t that last comment have said Chris Clark (formerly Penarth), Boston USA?
Hi James. Your mum contacted me to tell me of your Yukon trip to raise money & awareness of PROSTATE CANCER. I met with your mum shortly after your dad died and she gave us a bottle of Whiskey your dad had wanted to donate to The Red Sock Awareness campaign that I am the founder of in Cardiff.
I will post your Yukon trip details on our website and hope that more people will sponsor you in such a worthy cause.
I send you the best wishes from all the men such as myself who wish they had been aware that a simple blood test (PSA) could have saved our lives.

Hi, what a brilliant idea. A very worthy cause, both my father and his father suffered. I just hope it does not run in the blood. Wish I was coming with you.
Take care Tiny
Good luck with the adventure a great idea, James, as I said before if the canoe is not up to the job you can always borrow mine!
Good luck lads! We will be thinking about you. Wish we were supporting you there this time!!
Hi Jim. Best wishes for the trip. Sounds like a great adventure for a very worthwhile cause. Still think a few laps of Roath Park Lake would have been better training. Cheers
Hi James & Tim,
I hope that the preperations are all going well and the equipment that we donated is still coming in useful, especially the paddles etc.
I will do what I can on the sponsorship networking and I wish you the very best…keep in touch.
Regards
Clive
